An Artist Bio: Brian Van Meter

Brian Van Meter

A phenomenal artist, Brian Van Meter, was born in September 1981 in the city of Gainesville Florida to a long line of musical talent. Brian has a very strong, unique vocal ability. His vocal mixture ranges from classic rock to mid-90’s to present progressive modern pop rock music. Brian has been inspired by a variety of artist such as Jimi Hendricks, the Steve Miller Band, The Wallflowers, Bob Marley, Elton John, and Incubus.
Brian was born to make music and has over 20 years of experience in drums, piano, electric and acoustic guitar, and bass guitar. His musical heritage reaches as far back as his great grandparents. His great grandfather was a concert violinist and his great grandmother was a silent movie pianist. He has a great uncle who is an award winning songwriter, a cousin who is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter and parents who are musical performers as well.
Brian started writing his own songs when he was only sixteen years old. He moved to Nashville in 2003 and quickly started writing songs with the likes of Landon Pigg from RCA and Will Champlin (Bill Champlin from the band Chicago). He then acquired a single song agreement with Scott Lynch Publishing and has written for Universal Publishing and Word Records.
As an artist, Brian has had his share of fame. He has had songs on shows like MTV’s highest rated programs The Hill’s and The City. His music has also been on VH1, ABC, and CBS. He has had over 1 million plays from MTV. He is enjoying a successful internet presence; Brian is an internet phenomenon and already has more plays and friends than average “signed” artists, approximately 30,000 MySpace friends and growing every day. He has also been featured on indie magazines, radio stations, and websites. His very first single was featured on Wilmington North Carolina’s biggest radio station Surf 107.5 when he was still in high school.
Brian loves to create; he produces or co-produces every track he records and has worked beside the likes of producer Jason Callum (Michelle Branch and Julie Roberts), Phillip Symonds (LeAnn Rimes) and Barrett Jones (Nirvana and Foo Fighters)
Brian has a great sense of humor and likens himself as a kindred spirit with Roger, from 101 Dalmatians, in regards to songwriting similarities “Melody first, then the lyrics” Brian is a down to earth individual that brings out the best of people, and makes them feel at home in his presence with his warmth and compassion. Brian is a genuine and talented artist that you definitely want to see perform. Brian Van Meter is a rising star, on his way to the top.
